Privacy
Caliper is made by Blackism (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2014/236914/07, South Africa ("we"). This page explains what we collect and why. In short: your logos never leave your computer, and we keep only what we need to sell you a licence and keep it working.
Your files
Caliper runs in your web browser. Logos you open, trace and export are processed on your own computer and are never uploaded to us.
What we collect
- When you buy: your name and email address, which plan you bought, and the payment reference from PayFast. We never see or store your card details; PayFast handles payment.
- When you unlock Caliper: your email, licence key, a random ID for each computer you activate, a short name for that computer (for example "Mac · Chrome") and when it was last checked, so we can enforce seat limits and let you release seats.
- On your computer: the app stores your licence token, language and preferences in your browser's local storage, and may save a copy of the app so it opens offline. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
- Visits: we may use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page visits without cookies and without identifying you.
Who we share it with
- PayFast processes payments.
- Cloudflare hosts the website and the licence server.
- Resend sends licence emails.
We don't sell your information or share it with anyone else, except where the law requires.
How long we keep it
We keep licence records for as long as your licence exists, so you can recover your key. You can ask us to delete them at any time; your licence will stop working on new computers.
Where it's stored
Our licence server and website run on Cloudflare's global network, so your information may be processed outside South Africa. Our providers protect it under their own security and privacy terms.
Your rights
Under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), and similar laws elsewhere such as the GDPR, you can ask to see, correct or delete your information, or object to how we use it. Email hello@caliper.co.za. If you're not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za).
Who is responsible
The responsible party is Blackism (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2014/236914/07), Johannesburg, South Africa. Information Officer: Shiraz, reachable at hello@caliper.co.za.
